Postage rates are determined by several factors: class, quantity, geography and size.
CLASS
FIRST: When your mailing is time sensitive, First-Class Mail is your best choice. It is generally delivered in 3-5 days nationally and 1-3 days in the Memphis area. Also, the USPS provides free forwarding/return of your First-Class Mail if the mailing address is outdated.
STANDARD: Standard Rate, also known as Bulk Mail, offers lower postage rates but has a longer delivery time. Typically you can expect delivery in 7-10 days nationally and 1-5 days in the Memphis area. The USPS does not normally forward or return mail Standard Mail if the mailing address is incorrect.
NON-PROFIT: Non Profit groups can apply to the U.S. Postal Service for approval to mail at special Non Profit postage rates. This class of mail is a lower priced Standard Mail rate with the same delivery timeframes. We will mail for you at this lower postage rate after you have sent us the proper documentation. We make this process easy by giving you an application form to fill out. We then send this information to the USPS for approval.
SPECIAL NOTE ON DELIVERY TIMES: While the USPS sets delivery expectations, it does not guarantee delivery times. Mail can take considerably longer at peak mailing periods, and we do not recommend using Standard Rate for time-sensitive programs, such as events.
QUANTITY
FIRST: To receive discounted rates on First-Class Mail you must have a minimum of 500 qualifying pieces. If you have less than 500 pieces which qualify, your pieces will mail at the First Class Single Piece rate.
STANDARD: To receive discounted rates on Standard Mail you must have a minimum of 200 qualifying pieces. If you have less than 200 pieces which qualify, your pieces will mail at the First-Class Single Piece rate.
NON-PROFIT: Non Profit rate mailings have to meet the same quantity requirements as Standard rate mail, so you must have a minimum of 200 qualifying pieces.
GEOGRAPHY
For postcard mailings, postage is based upon the geographic concentration and quantity of actual postcards mailed. For example: 15,000 postcards mailed to a concentrated area in your own city will pay a much lower rate than 550 postcards mailed to a list of widely scattered areas across the country.
Baber Direct gets the lowest possible postage rate for all our customers' mailings by sending the lists through our Postal Software which sorts the mail according to current Post Office regulations.
